For one unforgettable week, Libertus stepped into the spirit of the 1960s—a time of music, expression, and togetherness—and the result was something truly special.
The transformation was immediate. Colourful decorations, bold patterns, and touches of “flower power” gave the space a completely new energy. But more than anything, it was the people who brought the decade to life.
Laughter carried through the rooms. Music sparked recognition. And everywhere you looked, there were moments of connection unfolding.
This wasn’t just about how things looked, it was about how it felt to be part of it.
Music became a shared thread throughout the week. Familiar songs brought back memories, started conversations, and often got people up on their feet. For many, these weren’t just songs, they were moments from their own lives, rediscovered.
Alongside the music, simple, playful activities helped bring people together. The red car and blue car game became an unexpected favourite, easy to join, full of laughter, and a great way to connect across the room.
Spaces to Express and Reflect
Different areas of Libertus took on their own character during the week, offering something for everyone.
A dress-up photo booth gave members and staff the chance to fully embrace the 60s spirit, trying on outfits, posing for photos, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way. It quickly became a hub of energy and creativity.
Meanwhile, the lounge offered a quieter, more reflective space. Led by volunteers, the reminiscence area invited people to sit, talk, and share memories sparked by music, objects, and conversation. These moments were just as powerful: creating space for connection, storytelling, and reflection.
A Space Full of Energy and Welcome
Each day brought something new.
Positive Futures groups joined throughout the week, bringing fresh energy and helping to build a lively, inclusive atmosphere. Their regular presence strengthened connections and added to the sense that something special was happening, day after day.
There was a natural flow to it all. People arriving, joining in, chatting, laughing – it never felt staged, just shared.
When Everyone Joins In
What stood out most was how naturally everyone became part of the experience.
Staff embraced the theme with enthusiasm, adding fun and personality through their interactions. Volunteers played a huge role, not only running activities but creating welcoming spaces where people felt comfortable, included, and valued.
It wasn’t about performance – it was about participation.
The Power of Simple Joys
Some of the most meaningful moments came from the simplest things:
A photo that made someone laugh.
A memory shared in the lounge.
A game that brought people together.
These are the moments that stay with people.
